What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha Yoga is the practice of asanas (physical postures) Yoga 101 also incorporates Pranayama (breath control) into our classes.

Why do people practice Yoga, what does it do to my body?

People practice yoga for many reasons. Yoga helps to relieve stress by slowing down the breath and relaxing the nervous system. The body is stretched and strengthened enhancing all systems of the body, leaving you with a sense of well being.

Is there a goal to Yoga?

Yoga is not goal oriented. Poses and breath work should always be practiced with a sense of awareness and a level of personal comfort. Moving towards holding a pose longer, strengthening the body, building endurance and mind awareness are things you may focus on in class.

Do I need to sign up in advance for classes?

No, you may drop in at any time. We do however suggest that you have a base knowledge of Sun Salutations or a current physical fitness routine when coming to Vigorous.

What should I wear to class?

Loose comfortable clothing. No socks. Bring a sweatshirt in the colder months.

What should I expect in class?

The class consists of approximately 5 minutes of warm up, breathwork. 45 minutes of Asanas (poses) and approximately 15 minutes of savasana (deep relaxation
